StepIn! newsletter
StepIn! is a 2-year Grundtvig multilateral project which started in January 2012. An international consortium develops an innovative education strategy to increase political participation and civic engagement of migrants and ethnic minorities, and to promote active citizenship. Good news: Prototypes are ready! The prototype versions of the workshop modules have been developed and are accessible on the project’s homepage: http://www.stepin-grundtvig.org/9275.html The workshop modules cover the following topics:
- Intercultural Competences for Adult Education Providers
- Intercultural training, activities and material supporting the inclusion of excluded groups and migrants in education
- Guidelines for stakeholder organisations enabling their role in supporting participation for excluded groups and migrants, notably: churches and religious organisations
- Intercultural competences for staff in governmental institutions (ministries, public bodies working with migrants)
- Promoting Key Competence and Motivation
- Involvement of migrants in volunteer activities as means for a better integration
- Mentoring programme: A practical step-in guide for greater participation
Get involved! We cordially invite all interested stakeholders in the fields of civic education, integration and adult education to contribute their expertise to the improvement of the materials. Download the modules, read them critically, and give us feedback and suggestions for improvement at: info@stepin-grundtvig.org. Next step: Practice tests of modules! From January to April 2013 the workshop modules will be tested in educational practice in all participating countries in order to make sure that the materials are practicable and easy to manage. The modules will be revised and optimised according to the results of the trials. Training Course in October 2013 The European Grundtvig Training Course “Promoting social inclusion by fostering intercultural competences of adult education professionals and migrants’ active citizenship” will take place in autumn 2013 in Hannover, Germany.
